DOWNTOWN EVENTS: Outdoor fun for the whole family

Every Friday the Las Vegas Farmers Market takes place from 4 to 8pm on the corner of Fremont St. and Las Vegas Blvd., featuring homegrown Nevada favorites, baked goods and a Cajun barbecue. Take advantage of the sunshine, support local farmers, and bring home delicious fruits and vegetables. Free parking is available at the El Cortez.

Also not-to-be-missed is Las Vegas Helldorado Days, the longest-running civic event in the history of the city. From May 13 – 16, several downtown blocks are transformed into a celebration of the ‘Wild West’. Bring the whole family to the Helldorado Parade on Saturday, May 15 at 7pm and stick around for the fireworks display directly following. Other highlights throughout the four-day event include a nightly carnival at the Downtown Rodeo Grounds, the Helldorado Rodeo, the PRCA Pro Rodeo, a Texas Hold’em poker tournament, treasure hunt, art show, and much more.

Helldorado Days began in 1935 to bring tourism to Las Vegas and is produced by the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 1468, a nonprofit organization committed to assisting children and veterans in need. For more information, visit Helldorado Days.
