Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health marks one-year anniversary

While the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health recently marked the completion of construction in May 2010, the clinic is already preparing to mark its one-year anniversary of seeing patients.

Since July 13, 2009, the Center has conducted more than 3,000 patient visits with those seeking treatment for such devastating neurocognitive diseases as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s.

“Considering that the facility was still under construction when we began accepting patients, that’s an especially impressive number,” said Cleveland Clinic Nevada’s Chief Emerging Business Officer Maureen Peckman of the 3,000-plus patient visits.  “It speaks volumes of the growing and pressing need for quality treatment for those desperate for the care and enhanced treatments they so deserve. “

According to patient Roy Kristiansen, “The Center for Brain Health is a place where you can bring your troubles and they help you understand what’s going on in your own mind.” He explained, “It’s furnished properly and you feel like you’re at home, comfortable and relaxed. That helps the people who are examining you because you’re comfortable and you’re getting the truth.”
