Vanguard Lounge is one of the newest additions to the hip nightlife scene on East Fremont, located at 516 Fremont Street, across the street from Beauty Bar and The Griffin.

The garage-door storefront and outdoor seating creates a comfortable, inviting atmosphere well suited for the heavy pedestrian traffic characteristic of the area. Inside, a sleek modern look features white leather bar stools and a matching couch. Husband and wife co-owners, Andrew and Jennifer Wheatley, took inspiration from time spent traveling for the décor and style. “We have talked about remodeling our home in this style,” said Andrew. “It has been a lot of fun to experiment on our bar.”

Andrew, born and raised in Las Vegas, says he and Jennifer have been patrons of the active downtown neighborhood for many years. Vanguard Lounge is the duo’s first ownership venture, though they have more than 20 years combined experience in the local nightlife industry. “Owning our own business in one of our favorite areas of Las Vegas is a dream-come-true,” Andrew said. “The incentives from the city allowed us to take the next step financially and make it a reality.”

Vanguard Lounge’s ribbon cutting ceremony was one of three held downtown on Wednesday, September 29 with Mayor Oscar Goodman. That same day, the Maharaja Hookah Café, also located on Fremont Street, and Azul Tequila, located nearby on Seventh Street, marked their openings with similar ribbon-cuttings. The Vanguard will hold a grand opening event in November. 

During the 4 pm to 7 pm happy hour, crafted cocktails are $7 (regularly $10), while beer, house wine and well cocktails are half price. DJ-spun entertainment starts at 9 pm Wednesday through Saturday.
