Gaia Flowers, Gifts and Art - Thriving in the 18b Arts District
When owner Peter Frigeri was preparing to open Gaia Flowers, Gifts and Art, he was drawn to the vibrant culture of downtown and chose to make his next business venture part of the regeneration of Las Vegas' urban core. Since opening in the summer of 2009, the flower shop specializing in sustainably grown arrangements in ceramics made by local artists has thrived in its 18b Las Vegas Arts District location on Charleston Boulevard.
Gaia, recently named Best Organic Flower Shop in Vegas Seven's"Best of the City" feature, stands out from other florists due to its welcoming, inviting space that seems to encourage visitors to linger, complete with a couch, a magazine-laden coffee table and a friendly staff. Gaia is known for unique gifts, including locally-made greeting cards, hand-crafted furniture and jewelry, locally-blended teas, bath and body products, as well as ongoing exhibits of local art. All are reasons to stay and browse. Gaia is the go-to florist for those who strive to support small independent businesses and the downtown revitalization while remaining environmentally conscious.
The community is invited to join Frigeri and the Gaia team on Friday, October 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. for A Night in the Dog House, a charitable event benefitting the rescue organization Greyhound Pets of America (GPA). Gaia resident artist, Robert Arnold, will donate a portion of the profit from all his artwork sold throughout the night to GPA. All are welcome, including children and families, to enjoy refreshments, music, product specials, a raffle and a chance to learn about and interact with gentle Greyhound dogs.
Gaia is located at 4 East Charleston Blvd., on the corner of Main, with free parking in the rear. The shop is open Monday - Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit www.gaiaflowers.com or call (702) 997-0222.
